Make your Pikolinos last longer
If you want to learn how to clean and care for your Pikolinos, so they’ll stay looking brand new, first you have to identify the type of leather they’re made of. If you have any questions, check the product file in our online shop or contact info@pikolinos.com and we’ll help you.
Here’s how to clean your Pikolinos.
Remember to remove the laces, if they have them, get all your materials ready and let them dry somewhere without sunlight or draughts.
Autoshine
The autoshine finish is a characteristic Pikolinos leather that is very special, soft and shiny, hand brushed with natural beeswax. This process gives it the authenticity of our brand. A good portion of our collection is made of this type of leather, so our leather treatment centre, Pies Cuadrados, has developed creams and products to keep your Pikolinos looking brand new. Remember to choose the right colour cream for your shoes. If you have any questions, we’re always here to help at info@pikolinos.com. To care for your Pikolinos, follow the brand’s basic cleaning steps below:
Moisturise your Pikolinos with the beeswax sponge to keep the leather bright and looking brand new.
Once dry, put the laces back in and slip a shoe tree inside so they will keep their shape and be ready to use season after season.
Wipe off any dust with a damp cotton cloth or natural brush.
Let them dry then carefully apply the cream all over the shoes with the applicator or a small sponge.
After they have dried, shine the leather by rubbing it gently with a clean, dry cotton cloth or a natural brush.
Waterproofer
Pikolinos leather is soft, pliable and natural, but it isn’t 100% waterproof. Remember, if you need shoes that will keep all the rain or snow out, choose styles from the Sympatex collection. However, you can apply our waterproofer to any style in the collection to prevent water from soaking through your shoes on days with moderate rain. Follow the instructions below to apply a waterproof layer to your shoes:
Wipe off any dust with a damp cotton cloth or natural brush.
When they’re dry, carefully spray the waterproofer all over the shoes from roughly 15 cm.
Let them dry in a cool, dry place, out of the sunlight, for at least six hours.
Afterwards, rub your shoes softly with a dry cotton cloth to get rid of any dust.
Moisturise your Pikolinos with the beeswax sponge to keep the leather bright and looking brand new.
Leather bag
Most of our bags have an autoshine finish, which is a characteristic Pikolinos leather that is very special, soft and shiny, hand brushed with natural beeswax. This process gives it the authenticity of our brand. A good portion of our collection is made of this type of leather. To care for your Pikolinos bag, follow the brand’s basic cleaning steps below:
Wipe off any dust with a damp cotton cloth or natural brush.
Let it dry then carefully apply the cream all over the bag with the applicator or a small sponge.
After it has dried, shine the leather by rubbing it gently with a clean, dry cotton cloth or a natural brush.
Moisturise your bag with the beeswax sponge to keep the leather bright and looking brand new.
Once dry, put the strap back on and, if you’re going to put it away, fill it with balled-up paper so it will keep its shape and be ready to use season after season.
Sport soles
A good portion of our collection features sport soles. Non-slip rubber soles, mostly white, that tend to get quite dirty. So, we’ve developed a white-sole cleaner to get rid of the grime easily. To care for your Pikolinos, follow the brand’s basic cleaning steps below:
Wipe off any dust with a damp cotton cloth.
Let them dry, then carefully apply the cleaning foam to the whole sole.
Rub the sole carefully, applying the product well to get rid of any stains and leave your soles looking like new.
Split leather
Split leather is a type of leather we often use in our collections. It is delicate, very soft and flattering, but requires special care to keep your split leather or nubuck shoes looking like new. To care for your Pikolinos, follow the cleaning steps below:
Gently apply the split leather cleaner to the shoe. Apply it carefully using small circular motions.
Then softly brush the leather with quick dabs to get rid of any stains.
Depending on the extent of the stain, use the soft or hard side to remove it. Use the brush carefully so you don’t ruin the leather.
Finally, use the special split leather sponge to make the leather shine and look brand new again.
At Pikolinos.com and Pikolinos shops, you’ll find everything you need to care for, repair and replace parts on your Pikolinos.
