Breast cancer pink sneakers
Breast cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed tumour worldwide.
1 in 8 women will develop this disease at some point in their lives.
In Spain, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 15 minutes.
It is the leading cause of death among Spanish women aged between 35 and 55, with over 6,000 deaths each year.
Research has become the key to advancing the fight against this disease. To support ongoing research, Pikolinos has partnered for years with the GEICAM Spanish Breast Cancer Research Group Foundation. All profits from the purchase of selected styles in this collaboration are directed towards research projects, such as GEICAM’s FOXC1 project. The detection of the FOXC1 protein has proven useful in identifying breast cancer tumours. It’s important to understand that breast cancer is not a single disease but a collection of different diseases. Tumours have varying molecular characteristics, so treatments must be personalised.
Thanks to prevention and research, lives are being saved.
